The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost (COP), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, says the global covid-19 pandemic is not the surest sign that the world is coming to an end.
Health officials say the new virus is a family of viruses that include the common cold, and viruses such as SARS and MERS.
Coronaviruses are common in many different species of animals, including camels and bats. Rarely, these coronaviruses can evolve and infect humans and then spread between humans, recent examples of this include SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV.
Until 2019 most coronaviruses infected animals, but not people.
Following the breakout of the covid-19 in China in 2019, some religious school of thoughts argued that the pandemic signifies the end of the world and that it was God’s way of “taking away” his own as stated in the scriptures.
The school of thought argues that those who have been affected especially those who had died were the righteous and chosen ones who will in share God’s Kingdom.
But speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show with host, Nana Owusu Nkrumah, Chairman for the Church of Pentecost Apostle Eric Owusu Nkrumah, stated that the outbreak of the pandemic is not the surest sign of the end of the world as being purported.
He noted that even though the scriptures prophesized that in the end-time, there would be diseases without remedies, Covid-19 is definitely not a surest sign of the end time.
According to the astute theologian, the surest sign of the end of the world is spread of the Gospel to all parts of the world.
He noted that the whole world is fighting a common enemy, the coronavirus pandemic and that, this is the time all and sundry especially the church lead the way for emotional, physical and economic healing to lift up people, who have been affected by the disease.
He urged the general public to continue trusting God to redeem the world from the pandemic.
Ghana’s Covid-19 case count is currently at 1154 with over 100 recoveries.
