Covid-19 patients advised against self-medication

Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has advised covid-19 patients in isolation to desist from self-education.
According to the legislator, although there is no drug, Covid-19 patients have been  placed on supportive treatment with some prescribed drugs to boost the immune systems of infected persons.
Meanwhile, EXIMBANK Ghana has announced a collaboration with Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center, a member of the Tobinco Group of companies, to produce Hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin locally to treat covid-19 patients.
President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Exim Bank Credit Subcommittee,  Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso, who spoke to Atinka News when the collaboration was made public said it has been established that Covid-19 patients treated with Hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin recover quickly hence the move.
Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso noted that in line with the president’s vision of industrializing the economy and supporting local businesses, the EXIMBANK identified 10 areas of the economy to extend support to in order to drive this agenda.
Speaking on Atinka TV’s Morning Show “Ghana Nie” with Ekourba Gyasi, Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah advised persons with the virus to exercise patience and allow health experts to give them the prescribed medication.
“It’s proper to seek treatment from the appropriate quarters since drugs which might work for patient A might not work for you. So if you self-medicate because you have heard it being mentioned on TV or radio. Let doctors profile you and give you the required dosages of drugs being used as supportive treatment,”.
Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, also debunked claims that Noguchi and the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research take some fees from persons who visit the two facilities to test covid-19 samples.
