A lecturer at Pentecost University College (PUC), Dr Ebenezer Appiah Denkyira has advised the government to provide houses for head porters in order to stop them from spreading the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
He observed that most of them were sleeping at lorry stations, a situation which could facilitate the spread of the virus.
Dr Ebenezer Appiah Denkyira made the call at a National stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting organised by the Pentecost University College (PUC) to discuss how to prevent and manage COVID-19 in Ghana.
The meeting brought together doctors, politicians, journalists, Lecturers, and government officials to recommend suitable ways to fight covid-19 especially when Ghana is recording more cases.
At the meeting, Dr Ebenezer Appiah Denkyira urged government not to be pressured by Ghanaians who are calling on it to lift up all restrictions, but rather gather the accurate data and ensure it puts in place measures that will control the spread of the virus should all restrictions be lifted.
Ghanaian Journalist and Broadcaster, Oheneyere Gifty Anti also urged government to educate families about covid-19 especially the need to stay away from visiting family members until covid-19 is over.
She advised parents to educate the care takers of their children well enough so that they can understand the importance of adhering to safety protocols.
A media Consultant, Dr Koma S. Jehu-Appiah advised government to educate communities on covid-19 and how its spread can be stopped at the community level.
He observed that the education has not really gotten to the communities as they do not adhere to precautionary measures.
He also urged all political parties to use their vans for education at the various communities to enable a widespread of the education.
