Covid-19 Trust Fund has bagged over GHS8 million so far

The COVID-19 National Trust Fund has bagged over GHS8 million so far, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed. 
The COVID-19 National Trust Fund, was established to complement Government’s fight against the coronavirus, and to assist in the welfare of the needy and the vulnerable.
Although it was inaugurated not too long ago, the President stated specifically that a total amount of some eight million, seven hundred and fifty thousand cedis (GH¢8.75 million), which includes six hundred thousand United States dollars (US$600,000), has been received so far.
Meanwhile, he expressed gratitude to all those who have donated into the fund to support government in its quest to fight the coronavirus outbreak in Ghana.
“I am very grateful to the individuals and institutions, who have responded to my appeal for donations to be made into the COVID-19 National Trust Fund, which has been established to complement Government’s fight against the virus, and to assist in the welfare of the needy and the vulnerable,” he said.
“A total amount of some eight million, seven hundred and fifty thousand cedis (GH¢8.75 million), which includes six hundred thousand United States dollars (US$600,000), has been received so far for this purpose. I am happy that so many appointees of my government have also followed my example by donating their salaries to the Fund,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
The above money, however, is expected to be used to support frontline actors by providing the needed tools to augment their work in fighting coronavirus.
