Executive Director for Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), Enoch Gyatua, said the council is in dire need of government’s stimulus package to keep private schools up and running.
Over 6000 private schools under the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) have applied for government’s stimulus package.
This was revealed by the Director of International Relations/Business Corporation of the Council, Mr. Steve Revss in a statement.
According to him, government is ready to support schools in this trying times but there is a need also, for private schools to position itself as recognised private educational institutions and reliable stakeholders in order to benefit from the national cake.
He hinted that negotiations are far advanced and that the Council is confident and quite hopeful that sufficient financial grants would be brought in to ease the burden of private schools.
“We have received over 6,000 applications from schools whose desire is to access part of the Government’s stimulus package/financial support and it is within our mandate to probe further to ascertain the authenticity of provided information presented to the Council so that Government will be in a good position to approve every school that meets the requirements of a school in good standing,” Mr. Steve Revss said.
Speaking on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Ekourba Gyasi, Enoch Gyatua said the country is not in normal times and so teachers in private schools are still being paid despite the hardship.
According to him, although the schools are closed, fumigation exercises, and other arrangements have to be made to ensure the smooth running of schools when they reopen.
