C/R: Taxi driver hands over ‘huge sum of money’ left by passenger to police

The Central Regional Police Command is looking for the owner of a “huge sum of money” left in a taxi cab on April 29, 2018.

According to the police, on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at about 12: pm, a taxi driver (name withheld) went to the regional police headquarters at Pedu Junction “to lodge a complaint that he picked a male passenger from Aquarium to Abura.  On reaching the destination the passenger left his money in the car.”

The taxi driver subsequently handed over the money to the police.

The Regional Public Affairs Director for the Police, DSP Irene Oppong, confirmed the news on Atinka Midday News Saturday and commended the taxi driver for setting a good example.

According to her, the regional police command is, therefore, calling on anyone who mistakenly left his or her money in the said taxi cab to report to the regional police headquarters for identification and collection.

DSP Irene Oppong further advised members of the general public to report cases of missing items in cars to the police.
