Atinka TV, organisers of award winning reality show, Di Asa has launched Di Asa Xtra.

The launch which was held in Accra at the Head office of Atinka Media Village on Friday, March 4, 2022 was to unveil the show and the queens who will be participating in the competition.

Di asa Xtra brings together past queens from season one to season five to battle each other for the ultimate prize.

For the maiden edition of Di Asa xtra, 50 queens, 10 drawn from each season will be camped at the Di Asa House for the competition.

The queens are expected to converge at the Di Asa House on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 to kick-start the competition which will last between 10 to 12 weeks.

Speaking at the launch on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Elder Nana Amo Tobbin I, the Corporate Affairs Manager of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour said the main purpose of the introduction of Di Asa Xtra is to rekindle the Group’s relationship with all Di Asa queens right from season one.

“We don’t want to lose track of them. Another reason is that others are  trying to imitate the Di Asa concept so we decided to create another exciting Di Asa concept for our viewers and corporate partners and other stakeholders,” he said.

Mr Dwumfour again explained that the Di Asa Xtra aims at maintaining the fight against body shaming, especially when fat people are involved.

“This fight is a continuous one. Indeed we can attest to the fact that since the inception of Di Asa, the confidence of fat people has been boosted and discrimination against them has gone down,” he added.

He said, “Di Asa Xtra will also also keep our cherished viewers entertained. This is also a family thing because the Di Asa queens and the Tobinco Group are like family members. Most of them are working as staff in most of our subsidiaries so there is that togetherness.”

For the prizes, he said five persons will be given the ultimate prizes, adding that the prizes will be a surprise and a bit different from the usual prizes given to the Di Asa queens.

Meanwhile, before their entry, each of 50 queens were given GHC 1000 as an appearance fee.

Mr Dwumfour also said there is a special reward for the queen who loses many kilos throughout the competition.
