The Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa-Nsuem, Benjamin Kesse, says one “Gator” has been arrested in connection with the clash in Dompim-Pepesa.
Two persons sustained severe injuries over what was described as a chieftaincy clash that erupted on Saturday, October 10 at Dompim-Pepesa, a farming community in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region.
The victims sustained severe cutlass wounds after a funeral ceremony of the late linguist from Wassa Fiase Traditional Council.
The high profile funeral was attended by the chief from Wassa Fiase, together with the Chief of Dompim, Nana Duah Panin II.
According to reports at around 5:30 pm, some boys clashed in the town, one was allegedly holding a cutlass chasing the other, but the one being chased collected the cutlass and rather slashed the one who brought it.
Speaking to the incident on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with sit-in host, Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsuem, Benjamin Kesse said the boys claimed they are very powerful and are backed by influential people, hence the attacks.
Benjamin Kesse explained that the attack follows a trend by the same group of boys .
“ These boys have been engaged in a lot of attacks consistently in the vicinity and they say they are powerful and that they are being financed by some high-profile people. This is the only time they have been arrested and that shows the magnitude of the crime they committed and we will discuss this at the appropriate time.” He added.
