The National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme, DRIP, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has seized a back- hoe machine belonging to the Obuasi West Municipal Assembly, which was being used for an unauthorised activity and handed it over to the police.
Upong interrogation after the equipment was impounded by the National Coordinator on the Obuasi-Kumasi highway with a broken hydraulic valve, the operator of the machine said that he was assigned a task by one of the engineers at the assembly.
Not convinced by the explanation, the National Coordinator invited the Obuasi police to effect the arrest of the operator and take possession of the machine for further investigation into the matter.

Hon. Vanderpuye, warned that no one would be allowed to misuse any of the equipment under the management of the secretariat, and any officer who instructs the usage of any of the machines without the permission of the district roads management team and the district coordinator would be surcharged with the cost of servicing and maintenance of the said equipment.
He urged the general public to take keen interest in how these machines are used because they are expensive national assets.
He further asked the assemblies to be patient and wait for the training of their operators before handing over the keys to them, promising that the training regime would begin soon in all the regional capitals.
