Eight Arrested in Kasoa for Breaching Sanitation Laws

Eight individuals have been arrested and prosecuted for flouting sanitation regulations within the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

The offenders were apprehended by a special task force set up by the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to monitor and enforce sanitation laws in the municipality.

The arrests were made while the individuals were caught dumping refuse in the Central Business District (CBD) of Kasoa.

According to authorities, the offenders have already been arraigned before court. Some of the cases have been concluded, with fines imposed on the culprits.

Speaking to Atinka News, the MCE for Kasoa, Mr. Seth Sabah Serwornoo-Banini, disclosed that the assembly will soon launch a permanent sanitation task force composed of members from various state security agencies.

This task force will be responsible for routine patrols and the enforcement of sanitation bylaws across the municipality.

Also speaking in an interview, the Kasoa District Police Commander, ASP Emmanuel Amponsah — a member of the task force — expressed the police’s commitment to supporting the assembly’s efforts.

He also cautioned residents against indiscriminate dumping and urged them to adhere to proper waste disposal practices.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to address growing sanitation concerns in Kasoa and promote a cleaner, healthier environment for residents.
