Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, Jean Mensah has announced plans to upload the special voters register on the EC’s website next week.
Briefing Parliament on Friday, she emphasized the importance of transparency and accuracy in the electoral process, particularly concerning the 131,005 special voters composed of security agencies and media personnel.
Jean Mensa highlighted the EC’s proactive engagement with heads of security agencies and media associations to clarify the application procedures for special voting, aiming to avoid the confusion experienced during the 2020 elections.
Addressing concerns raised in previous elections, Mensa assured Parliament that measures have been implemented to ensure a smooth special voting process scheduled for December 2, 2024.
She underscored the EC’s commitment to mitigating errors by requesting security agencies and media organizations to provide pendrives for the special voters register. This initiative enables stakeholders to review the list independently and report any discrepancies to the EC promptly.
