Election Petition: Kpessa Whyte admits not speaking to EC boss directly

The second witness for the petitioner in the 2020 presidential election petition, Dr Michael Kpessa Whyte Tuesday morning mounted the witness box for cross examination.

Dr Kpesah Whyte mounted the witness box with both lawyers of the first and second respondents cross examining him.

The lawyer for the first respondent, Lawyer Justine Amenuvor started his cross examination on an allegation made by the witness that the EC chairperson had instructed the two agents of the NDC to leave the EC’s strong room and consult the Flagbearer of the party.

Dr Michael Kpessa-Whyte had earlier stated that while working with another colleague, Rojo Mettle-Nunoo at the EC “strongroom” on December 9, Jean Mensa instructed them to go and seek a conference with the 2020 NDC flagbearer, John Mahama.

However, when he climbed the witness box on Tuesday 2nd February 2020 Kpessa Whyte stated that the returning officer for the presidential election did not speak to him personally.

The election petition comes after the NDC argued that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, did not win the election 2020 as declared by the Electoral Commission (EC).
