Embrace cultural diversity as a tool for national and global unity –  Dzifa Gomashie to Ghanaians

The Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie, has urged Ghanaians to embrace cultural diversity as a tool for national and global unity.

Speaking at the 19th edition of Galaxy International School’s Annual Intercultural Festival, she emphasized the need for mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration among different cultures.

“True harmony is not the absence of diversity; it is the blending of it. Like an orchestra, every instrument is unique, but together they create a symphony. Let this festival remind us that, though we may come from different corners of the earth, our hearts beat as one,” she stated.

The festival, themed “Diversity in Harmony: The World as One,” was attended by politicians, parents, cultural enthusiasts, and students, who gathered to witness a stunning display of traditional dances, poetry, and a rich food bazaar featuring delicacies from around the world.

The Managing Director of Galaxy International School, Mehmet Akmermer, reaffirmed the school’s vision of fostering cultural understanding among students.

“Imagine a world where only one type of flower bloomed or only one song was ever sung. Wouldn’t that world feel empty? Our cultures, languages, and traditions add beauty to the world. When we come together—bringing our food, music, and stories—we enrich one another,” he remarked.

He encouraged students to explore new cultures, learn new languages, and engage with people from different backgrounds, as these experiences prepare them for a more interconnected world.

The Member of Parliament (MP)  for Adentan, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Ramadan, also praised the festival, highlighting the importance of cultural education.

“This is a great opportunity to learn about other cultures, and I encourage all Ghanaians to keep promoting cultural diversity,” he said.

Similarly, Ghana Tourism Authority’s Made-in-Ghana Ambassador, Okyeame Kwame, lauded the school for providing a platform that encourages unity.

“It is only birds that fly in their colours, but human beings move together for common goals. We all have different cultural beliefs and practices, but ultimately, we all seek peace and development. I am happy to witness this,” he stated.

As the event ended, it was evident that Galaxy International School’s Intercultural Festival is more than just an annual celebration—it is a movement that reinforces the importance of cultural exchange and understanding.

The Minister’s call to action resonated deeply, reminding attendees that diversity should not divide but rather unite us in building a stronger and a more inclusive society.
