The Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Ernest Brogya Genfi has informed Parliament that the FACON 900 Executive Aircraft is currently undergoing the final stages of mandatory inspection and maintenance at Dassault Falcon Services in Lévis-Jérès, France, and will soon return to Ghana.
Providing the update on the floor of Parliament, the Deputy Minister stated that the aircraft was ferried to France on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, for its 24-monthly and 1,600 flying-hour periodic inspection.
He explained that this airworthiness inspection is a mandatory international requirement designed to ensure that all major maintenance, safety, and functional checks are thoroughly completed and verified before the aircraft is cleared for operation.
During the comprehensive inspection process, corrosion spots earlier detected within the aircraft’s fuel tanks, which had affected its delivery schedule, were subjected to extensive repairs.
The Deputy Minister confirmed that these corrosion issues have since been fully resolved.
He, however, disclosed that during the course of the inspection, minor fuel leakages were discovered in the right-hand wing tank.
Although the affected section was successfully repaired, a new challenge was encountered during the reinstallation of the lower wing panel, resulting in some delays in the completion of the inspection.
