Fameye consoles Bogoso disaster victims

Ghanaian Musician, Fameye born Peter Famiyeh Bozah, has expressed his condolences to the victims in the Bogoso-Apeatse disaster.

Over 17 persons perished while 59 got injured in Thursday’s huge explosion at Apiate, a town between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Western Region.

The explosion occurred when a motorcycle collided with a vehicle carrying mining explosives to a mining site on Thursday, 20 January 2022.

Apart from the deaths, the explosion destroyed several domestic and commercial properties.

Some residents of the area who were unhurt had to run for their lives.

After the disaster, Fameye who hails from Bogoso took to social media to share his condolences with his people.

The “Praise” hitmaker mentioned that his heart goes out to the families of the victims and that he is ready to support them.

“Wishing you strength for today and hope for tomorrow my people,” Fameye shared on his social media pages.

Fameye was honored with a traditional by the Chiefs Wassa Bogoso in November 2021.

The singer was enstooled “Nana Wassa Nyankoton Hene” by the chiefs and traditional rulers of Wassa.

Meanwhile, The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Prestea-Huni Valley, Dr Isaac Dasmani, says some victims in the Bogoso disaster failed to heed to warnings from truck driver after the mining truck caught fire.

“So, the driver got down and was telling people to run away and, you know, some people were also trying to find out what was happening. While the driver was shouting that people should run away, so I think it happened and in about 10 minutes’ time the whole thing exploded,” Dr Isaac Dasmani, told press men.
