The family of the late Madam Gertrude Essie Quashigah, former National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), has strongly condemned recent allegations made by former Gender Minister, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, regarding the supposed mismanagement of the programme during their mother’s tenure.
In a press statement signed by Isaac Aidoo, Esq., the family expressed deep sadness and disappointment over the remarks, stating that Madam Quashigah served with integrity, dedication, and selflessness until her passing in 2023.
“Our mother worked tirelessly to expand the School Feeding Programme, improving the nutrition and welfare of thousands of Ghanaian children. It is painful to see her legacy being tarnished when she is no longer here to defend herself,”- the statement read.
The family has demanded that Adwoa Safo retract her statement and issue an unqualified apology, urging her to consider the distress her comments have caused.

They also referenced the historical relationship between their late father, Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd), and Adwoa Safo’s father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, emphasizing that such public accusations are deeply disappointing given the bond of mutual respect between both families.
The statement further called on all well-meaning Ghanaians to honour the contributions of Madam Gertrude Quashigah, who dedicated her life to the betterment of Ghanaian children.
The controversy surrounding Adwoa Safo’s allegations has sparked public debate, with many questioning the timing and intent of her remarks. As the dust settles, the late Quashigah’s family remains firm in defending her reputation, ensuring that her legacy of service and impact on Ghana’s School Feeding Programme remains untarnished.
