The Ministry of Information designate, Fatimatu Abubakar, has paid a courtesy call on Atinka Media Village ( operators of Atinka TV, Atinka FM and atinkaonline.com in Accra) as part of stakeholder engagements in Accra.
The calls, which started in Accra on Monday May 7, 2024, forms part of a nationwide exercise to engage with the Ghanaian media, as part of efforts to deal with emerging issues in the sector.
The delegation was led by the sector minister designate, Fatimatu Abubakar and her deputy minister, Silvester Tetteh.
Interacting with the management of Atinka Media Village, the Minister Designate Fatimatu Abubakar commended management and staff of Atinka Media Village for championing professionalism and using the platform to engage all stakeholders in national discourse.
Fatimatu Abubakar reiterated Government’s commitment to ensure conducive environment for free and responsible media, while assisting the enhancement of the work of journalists through capacity building.
She also encouraged the staff of Atinka Media Village to take advantage and participate in the upcoming 3rd Africa Media Convention, which is scheduled from May 15th to17th, 2024.
Fatimatu Abubakar also commended Atinka Media Village for introducing educative and entertaining programs such as “DiAsa” and “Obiadimawu.
Speaking on behalf of the management of Atinka Media Village, head of Operations, Ishmeal Narh also commended the Minister designate, Fatimatu Abubakar, for the kind gesture and appealed for more of such visits.
He also called on the for more support in the way of capacity building and media training.
