Fire razes 6- bedroom house at Akyem New Tafo

A six- bedroom semi detached apartment was razed down by fire in the early hours of Wednesday, July 7th 2021 at Akyem New Tafo in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern region.

The outbreak which started around 6:30 am on Wednesday completely destroyed the six bedroom semi detached apartment, which is located at the Tafo Cocoa Research Institute road.

It took the Abuakwa North Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service over two hours to dowse the flames.

Properties worth Thousands of Cedis were destroyed.

An eyewitness, who happens to be a tenant said the fire started when the occupants of the house had left for work.

She lamented that they saw smoke gushing from the Landlords apartment.

Preliminary investigation gathered by  Fire Officers indicates that, the fire started after power was restored.

Chief Inspector Obeng, New Tafo Police Station Officer, advised all to switch off and unplug their electrical gadgets when leaving their homes to avoid power surges which can lead to fire outbreaks.

The owner of the house, 55year old widow, Rebecca Apenteng was not in the house during the outbreak.
