More than 500 residents in the Awutu Senya East Municipality have been displaced following heavy rainfall on Sunday that triggered widespread flooding across several communities.
The downpour caused significant damage to homes and personal property, with communities such as Iron City, Dokutsekope, Akweley Cross River, and Kpometey Zongo being the worst affected.

Many residents reported the loss of household items, including electrical appliances.
Authorities have confirmed that approximately 500 people have been impacted.

Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Philis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, assured the public that temporary shelters have been arranged for the displaced.

Speaking to Atinka News, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Awutu Senya East, Seth Sabah Serwonoo-Banini, attributed the flooding to poor drainage infrastructure and the blockage of water channels.

He stated that the assembly will soon begin efforts to address the issue to prevent future occurrences.
