A 35-year -old suspected pick-pocket, was allegedly stabbed to death Friday night in Akropong.
The deceased, whose name was given as Adams Yakubu allegedly tried to rob a German student and his friends who were in Akropong in the Eastern Region to partake in a street carnival as part of the Odwira festival.
According to an eyewitness, the German Student who was unwilling to hand over the cash and other items Yakubu and his team demanded, stabbed Yakubu to death.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital.
According to the eyewitness, but for the timely intervention of the police, the German student and his friends would have been lynched as Yakubu's gang wanted to take revenge.
The suspect and friends were escorted to the Akropong Chief's palace to take refuge.
The suspect and friends are currently with the Police assisting investigations.
