The Ghana Education Service (GES) has commiserated with families of the nine pupils who drowned recently at Wiaboman-Faana.
On Wednesday 10th May 2023, twelve pupils, five from Services Awareness Academy and Seven, from Redeemer Academy, all Private schools at Wiaboman in the Weija Gbawe Municipality, were returning from school on a boat to Faana in the Ga South Municipality around 4:30pm.
The boat they were using was hit by tidal waves and it capsized.
Nine of the school children, comprising seven girls and two boys, aged between two and ten years lost their lives.

In a related development, the GES noted that Mr. Sampson Adu, a 29-year-old teacher at Chinekope M/A Primary school in the Krachi West Municipality also met his untimely death when the boat he was traveling on capsized. Mr Adu has since been buried in his hometown in the Eastern Region.
“With a heavy heart, Management expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and assure them that our hearts and prayers are with them in these trying moments,” GES stated.
