The Ghana Chamber of Mines has completed its pledged financial support of US$300,000 to the Ghana Air Force (GAF) to assist in the refurbishment of aircraft used for critical national duties, including security operations, surveillance, and emergency response.
The final tranche of the donation, amounting to GHS1.68 million, was formally presented when a delegation from the Ghana Air Force visited the Chamber’s Secretariat to receive the funds. The contribution marks the completion of a commitment first announced in 2024, with an initial US$150,000 donation made earlier that year.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ghana Air Force, Air Commodore Elvis King Arneson, Base Commander of the Air Force Base (AFB) Accra, expressed profound appreciation to the Ghana Chamber of Mines for its continued support.
“This timely support from the Ghana Chamber of Mines will significantly enhance our aircraft refurbishment efforts and improve our readiness for national assignments, including security operations, surveillance, and emergency response,” Air Commodore Arneson stated.
He emphasised that a stable and secure nation is essential for sustainable development, including the growth of the mining industry, adding that partnerships between state institutions and the private sector are critical to building resilient national security capabilities.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ing. Dr Kenneth Ashigbey, said the donation reflects the mining industry’s recognition of the vital role played by the Ghana Air Force in safeguarding the nation.
“The development of this country is paramount to the Chamber, and the Ghana Air Force plays a critical role in ensuring national security and supporting emergency and strategic assignments across the country,” he noted.
Dr Ashigbey reiterated the Chamber’s commitment to honouring its pledges and strengthening collaboration with state institutions in the national interest.
The engagement highlighted the strong institutional relationship between the Ghana Chamber of Mines and the Ghana Air Force, reaffirming the importance of public–private sector cooperation in advancing Ghana’s development and security objectives.
