Ghana football needs firm foundation – La Dadekotopon MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of LA Dadekotopon, Hon. Solomon Kotey Nikoi, has expressed concern about the decline in our football and sports.

Hon. Solomon Kotey Nikoi, urged the GFA and all stakeholders to strengthen the foundation of football by reviewing our juvenile and colt’s football programs.

He was speaking on the The Legend Sports show on Atinka FM

According to Hon. Solomon, the recent lack of success among young, talented players can be attributed to the abandonment of juvenile/Colts’ football. He also noted that our football has been rife with favoritism, in contrast to a few decades ago when our college’s football team received significant attention and selected the right players.

He emphasized that we need to revisit our strategy and address the shortcomings in our football. Hon. Solomon identified a few legends who elevated Ghanaian football to unprecedented heights by securing the Black Stars’ first-ever world cup qualification in 2006, a feat unmatched by our current Black Star players. He added, “Life is about focus and planning; what you want to achieve tomorrow should start today.”

He advised the Ghana Football Association to go back to basic and secondary schools to recruit young players and nurture them into the national teams.

Hon. Solomon Kotey concluded that criticism has become a factor in destroying the country’s football. He advised the public and all football fraternities to come together and help the FA build Ghana football to make it look attractive.
