Give us our land back! -Togbui Ananze Titriku XII to gov’t

Acting president of the Dorfor Traditional Area, Togbui Ananze Titriku XII, has called on government to return their land which was taken over by the Supreme Military Council in 1975.

Togbui Ananze Titriku XII – Acting president of Dorfor Traditional Area flanked by his sub-chiefs at a press conference, said the people of Vume Torgorme, who are Traditional settlers on Dorfor land are seriously laying claims to Dorfor lands stretching from Nigokpoe through Atitekpoe, Tagadzi to Kluma Dorfor.

Togbui Ananze Titriku XII charged that the action by the SMC   was wrong and provocative since the said stretch of land belongs to Dorfor State and not Vume Torgome.

“The said area was taken over by the Supreme Military Council since 1975 from the chiefs and people of Dorfor Traditional Area for cotton project which is yet to be developed,” he said.

He also noted that it is that same land that a sod cutting ceremony for the rehabilitation, completion and modernization of Kpong left bank irrigation project has been undertaken by the president – H.E Nana Akufo-Addo.

He further showed his displeasure over the fact that the Supreme Military Council did not compensate the people of Dorfor in 1975 when the land was taken over, adding that they earlier informed the Lands Commission of their compensation so that the land could be developed but nothing has been heard from them.

“Our hope is that since the land is yet to be developed, it should be given back to Dorfor State,” he said.
