Gomoa Nyanyano: Chief, others arrested over illegal connection

A chief, whose name has been withheld, and six others have been arrested in Gomoa Nyanyano for engaging in illegal connection, purchase of fake meters and power theft.

The arrest occurred when the Kasoa South district of the Electricity Company of Ghana, in collaboration with the Central East police command, entered phase two of their operations.

This event became necessary after the ECG under the Kasoa South district identified over thirteen thousand fake meters and self-reconnections in the district.

The various vicinities visited include main Kasoa, Nyanyano, Budubram, Fetteh Kakraba, Gomoa Fetteh, Gomoa Akoti, Ngleshi Amanfrom, and other communities under the Kasoa South district.

In an interview with Atinka News reporter Samuel Nyamekye Jnr, the leader operations and an electrical foreman with ECG, Samuel Affirm, expressed disappointment in the action of some of the customers.

He appealed to the residents to regularly pay their electricity bills to avoid disconnection and legal tussles with the energy providers.

Meanwhile, the Central Regional General Manager for ECG, Mr. Emmanuel Lumor, has also issued a warning to those involved in illegal connections in the Kasoa South district to stop immediately.

According to Mr. Lumor, anyone caught will be arrested and will be made to face the law.
