Govt commits GH¢435 M to Trainee Allowances in 2024

Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Anim Adam, has revealed that the government has allocated GH¢435 million towards supporting trainee allowances in critical sectors of healthcare and education.

“From January to June 2024, a total of GH¢219 million has been disbursed as allowances to 104,000 nursing trainees,” he announced.
According to the minister, the substantial allocation underscores government’s dedication to ensuring financial support for aspiring healthcare professionals, fostering growth and stability in the healthcare sector.

Teacher Trainee Allowances

Turning to the education sector, the Minister reported on allocations made to teacher trainees for the 2023/2024 academic year.
“A total of GH¢216 million has been released as allowances to 67,000 teacher trainees,” he stated. This financial support aims to alleviate financial burdens on trainee teachers, enabling them to focus on their studies and contribute effectively to Ghana’s educational landscape.
