Government on Tuesday disbursed over gh 51million grants to beneficiaries as part of the “You start Program”.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare advised Beneficiaries of the “You Start” programme to use the grants to create jobs for the unemployed in the country.
She said the objective of the programme is to mitigate the unemployment challenges in the country by empowering the youth with the grant as they also scale up to employ others.
The Chief of Staff who represented the President was speaking at the Biggest Grant and Mentoring Expo organized by the Ghana Enterprises Agency on Tuesday (GEA) under the theme “ Empowering Innovators and Entrepreneurs”.
“The Grants is a powerful tool in your hands, so use it well to benefit others”, Madam Opare said.
She later indicated that over 51 million grant to be disbursed to the beneficiaries in all the 16 regions forms part of government’s Commitment to create jobs through youth empowerment.
She therefore entreated all the beneficiaries to leverage on the grants received and help alleviate poverty in their respective communities.
Later, the Trade Minister Mr. Kobina Tahir Hammond and the CEO of GEA Madam Kosi Yankey-Ayeh took turns and emphasized that government remains committed to the “You Start” program and would always make funds available to the beneficiaries.
The programme was under auspices of the World Bank, Government of Ghana, GEA and NEIP.
