Gov’t must conduct mass testing for nurses and midwives – GRNMA

The president of the Ghana Registered Nurses’ & Midwives’ Association (GRNMA), Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo has called on the government to conduct mass testing for nurses and midwives across the country.
She stated that nurses and midwives at various health facilities  risk  being infected with the coronavirus and that  mass testing will help identify and treat  potential  victims early.
Mrs Perpetual Ofori- Ampofo made the comments on the occasion of the Launch of International Nurses Day Celebration.
This year’s celebration was on the theme; “Nursing the World to Health”.
Earlier, the government congratulated nurses for their selflessness and dedication to their profession.
Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah conveying the government’s message to the frontline health workers, said “the commemoration of the day comes at a time when the role of the nurse needs no further highlighting. As you are aware, we are in the midst of a pandemic and the nurse is an instrumental figure in this fight.’’
