Guinness World Record: Conflicting reports hit Chef Smith’s Cook-a-thon record win

Atinkaonline.com reported yesterday, July 2, 2024 that Ghanaian Chef, Ebenezer Smith was officially the reigning Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual but an email from the GWR has refuted the reports.

Chef Ebenezer Smith ended his cook-a-thon on 6th March 2024 after attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

He had initially set his sights on the 1200-hour but ended at an impressive 820 hours on Wednesday, March 6.

The chef began his culinary journey on February 1, aimed to break the current record which stands at 119 hours set by Alan Fisher in 2023.

Chef Smith began his cook-a-thon journey on February 1 and ended on 6th March after cooking for 802 hours and 25 minutes.

Speaking at a press conference to unveil him as the new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual on Tuesday July 2, 2024 at the La-Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Chef Ebenezer Smith expressed his profound gratitude to the general public for the support and prayers during the cook-a-thon.

However, conflicting reports suggest that Chef Ebenezer Smith is not the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual as he announced at his press conference,

In an email that has gone viral on social media, the PR manager at Guinness World Records, Madalyn Biefied revealed that the current true holder of the of the title is not Chef Smith.

“The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 mins 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland, Japan from 28th September to 3rd October 2023,” an excerpt of the email read.

Chef Smith and his team are yet to respond to the issue.
