Hospitals asked to desist from extorting NHIS clients

The Eastern regional manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Dr. Edward Kwaku Ketu Cudjoe has appealed to health facilities to desist from illegal extortions of monies from NHIS clients.

According to him,the attitude of some health facilities does not encourage people to register to the scheme.

Dr. Edward Kwaku Ketu Cudjoe, made this appeal in Koforidua, during a float as part of the activities to mark 2021 NHIS week celebration in the Eastern region.

The week celebration which started from 15th  will end on 21st November ,2021.

The celebration was under the theme, “Using The Ghana Card For Expanding Access To Healthcare”.

He added that, the objective of the celebration is to increase the scheme’s active membership to constructively tackle the health needs of the general Ghanaian public.

Dr.Edward Ketu, emphasized that the Health insurance is effectively functioning and therefore debunk claims of it collapse, therefore urging Ghanaians to register to enhance effective healthcare delivery.

However,the new Juaben Municipal Manager, Michael Oteng Adu, said  the active membership in the municipality has increased.

He urged citizens to report challenges to authorities to ensure redress.
