Husband and wife remanded over alleged fraud

An Accra Circuit Court presided over by his Honor, Samuel Bright Acquah has remanded Husband and Wife Vera Nartey Akosua Kyerewaa and  Eketor Norsah into police cells awaiting sentence for defrauding a UN Peace Ambassador to the tune of two hundred and ninety thousand dollars [ $290.000 ]  

The Accused, Vera Nartey Akosua Kyerewaa- wife, and her husband Norah Eketor, a Nigerian are likely to go for over seven years imprisonment with hard labour and lose their property.

At the beginning of this year, the two were accused of defrauding the UN Peace Ambassador concerning a property in East Legon. The property was initially sold at $290,000 to the businessman Chief Donkor, who paid 270,000 dollars and the remaining 20,000 dollars after all documents were provided. The same apartment was subsequently sold to a third party.

The husband, a Nigerian, and his wife are both accused of property fraud.

 The Property which is located at East Legon was first sold at the cost of 290.000 Dollars to a business Mogul Chief Donkor and Paid 270.000 dollars and later paid the remaining 20,000 dollars after all documents were provided was later sold to another person.

After a year of proceeding, the judge is expected to give his ruling on the matter by next week and the suspects are likely to face 30 years each imprisonment.
