I feel comfortable when people insult me- Mercy Asiedu

Kumawood actress, Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu, says she feels more comfortable when people talk about her or insult her.

She thrives on negative comments from those who talk about her, saying that if they stop, it will affect her.

This is despite her status as a wife to a chief and an elderly woman.

“With my celebrity style, sometimes I just drop a bomb and find a place to hide, causing people to get hurt and talk a lot,” she said. If they do not say something bad, I do not feel comfortable; if they insult me as well, I do not feel comfortable,” she said.

Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu was speaking with B Ice on Agyenkwa 101.9 FM, a sister station of Atinka FM and Atinka TV based in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, she expressed her belief that those who engage in negative discourse about her on social media may not have senior citizens like her in their homes, implying that if they disparage her, they are also disparaging their own mothers.

She also stated that she does not respond to those who talk about her, saying she does not take them seriously because it does not change who she is.
“If you want to sit on social media and talk about me when I am doing better than you, then it means something is not well with you,” she said.

Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu, who was talking about her newly released song, “Wadaada Me,” or ‘Betrayal’, also recalled that ‘Betrayal’ was not her only track, mentioning that her first track was ‘Pressure’.

She said she didn’t have any problems with her husband because of the track’s release, adding that he had kept every promise he had made to her.

She explained that, although the song is about betrayal, it has nothing to do with her marriage.

She further explained that in this world, people deceive people, pointing to friendship, relationships, work, and others; therefore, the song cuts across, and she did not write it for her husband.

Again, she stated that she even recorded the song in the studio with her husband, adding that it is meant to encourage people and is currently performing well on various music platforms.

Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu urged the public to utilize all social media and music platforms for streaming.

Speaking about politics, she said she is not a sympathizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). However, she was of the belief that the NDC’s policies helped the industry better when they were in power; therefore, she was of the belief that the party would help the creative industry.

She said she made a comment about this sometime ago, and people misunderstood her.

Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu also said she is a businesswoman, and therefore, if any political party calls her to make a song for them, whether the NPP or the NDC, she will do it.
