Ibrahim Tanko Plays Down Panic as Medeama Prepare for Samartex Clash

Head coach Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko, has urged calm within the camp ahead of a crucial Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex, insisting there is no cause for alarm despite the club’s reduced lead at the top of the table.

The Yellow and Mauve saw their advantage cut to five points following a 1–1 draw with Aduana Stars, combined with a 1–0 victory for Accra Hearts of Oak over arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.

Medeama are set to face Samartex on Sunday, February 22, at the TNA Stadium, in a high-profile encounter between two recent champions of the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking to the club’s media team, Tanko dismissed talk of pressure, stressing the competitiveness of the league and the long road still ahead.

“There is no need to press the panic button. We knew from the beginning that the league is very strong, and we still have 12 games to play,” he said.

“All the competing teams have very tough matches ahead of them, so there’s no reason to panic.”

The former Black Stars assistant coach emphasized the need for focus and hard work as Medeama aim to return to winning ways.

“We just have to concentrate and work hard to get back to winning ways,” Tanko added.

FC Samartex currently sit sixth on the league table and will be eager to close the gap on the leaders, setting the stage for an intense and potentially pivotal showdown in Tarkwa.
