The conflict between Israel and Iran intensified Sunday with deadly strikes on both sides, killing hundreds and injuring many more, most of them civilians. Both militaries warned people near military targets to evacuate immediately.
Israel said it was targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. In response, Iran launched missile strikes into Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa. Explosions killed and injured civilians in both countries.
Iran reported over 220 dead, including many women and children. Israel said at least 10 of its civilians were killed.
Oil prices surged as Israeli strikes hit Iranian oil facilities. The fighting has raised fears of a wider regional war.
Germany and the G7 are calling for de-escalation. Iran, however, has refused to negotiate a ceasefire under fire.
U.S. President Trump warned Iran against attacking American interests but denied any U.S. role in Israel’s offensive. He said peace is possible but may take time.
