“It is well with my soul,” journalist Kofi Adoma Nwanwani declared with deep emotion as he addressed his family following the harrowing attack that left him fighting to save his sight.

Overcome with tears when the MC began singing the hymn” It Is Well with My Soul”, Kofi Adoma expressed gratitude for his survival and the presence of loved ones who had gathered to support him.

Recounting the ordeal, he described the painful uncertainty surrounding his recovery.

“For what I’ve seen these past months, for me to be alive, for me to be able to at least appreciate all my family members with my right eye, I would say it is well with my soul,” – he said.

Kofi Adoma was repositioning himself during a live report at a festival when gunpowder from one of the guns, which had just been fired, struck his face.

He was shot in the eye, a wound that has since put his vision in jeopardy. Though his right eye still functions, the left one continues to deteriorate, leaving doctors puzzled.

“When we got to Dubai, the doctor said they needed to check something because they still didn’t understand why my left eye was shutting down. They wanted to examine the nerves connected to my brain,” – he recalled.

As he spoke, Kofi Adoma reflected on his years of service to the nation and questioned whether this was how his journey would end.

“I said to myself, Oh Lord, I have helped the blind, I have heard their stories, I have used my platform to serve this nation. Will this be my end?”

Despite the uncertainty, he remains hopeful that at the right time, his prayers will be answered. “I hear a lot. I may not see everything, but I ask, ‘What is happening? What are people saying? Am I going to see again?’”

His words painted a picture of resilience, faith, and the deep pain of a man grappling with the unknown.

Surrounded by his family from Volta, Ga (Tema, La), Central, Banda, and Berekum, he acknowledged their love and support, particularly that of his wife, who informed him of their gathering.
