I’ve installed over 200 solar panels in 16 communities- Freda Akosua Prempeh

The Member of Parliament for Tano North and Minister of State for Works and Housings, Freda Akosua Prempeh says she has installed over 200 solar panels in 16 communities in her constituency.

The installation of the solar panels was to augment electricity in deprived areas.

Freda Akosua Prempeh made this known on Atinka FM‘s morning show, AM Drive with Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.

She noted that having access to electricity had become a necessity because children need it for education, the youth, especially those into fashion need it to sew, others need it to sell water and the rest.

She said as an MP in her third term, she sought to ensure that everyone under in her constituency had access to electricity.

Currently, she said her team has been able to cover almost 90 percent of that target.

“We have installed light in most of the towns, even where it was difficult for electricity to reach, I have installed over 200 solar panels in 16 communities. There are sockets installed on it and people are able to charge their phones on it. Apart from phones and radios, some use it to watch TV,” she said.

After installing the lights, Freda Prempeh said she is set to construct more roads in the various communities.

Already, she said she had constructed some roads, while others have been awarded to contractors to work on.

She said there have been some reshaping works as well in her constituency, adding that some of the roads are also being reshaped.

“So far, about 80 to 85 per cent roads are under construction and about 15 per cent done,” she said.

Freda Prempeh also said a dilapidated bridge on the Bafo road which had become a death traphas been re-built to prevent accident.

Meanwhile, she said she has personally initiated an affordable housing project in the constituency to tackle the housing deficits in the constituency.

She has drilled 115 boreholes out of 150 target in the constituency to ensure the people have safe water for drinking and other activities.
