The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has nominated Hon. John Atteh Matey, the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman for Lower Manya Krobo, as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly.
Popularly known as “JM,” Matey is a 41-year-old educator and rising political figure in the Eastern Region. Prior to his nomination, he served as a Social Studies teacher at Manya Krobo Senior High School (MANKROSEC), where he was known for his commitment to youth development and civic education.
His nomination for the MCE role has been welcomed by many within the party and the municipality, with several citing his active involvement in party activities, grassroots mobilization, and his close collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, who has publicly thrown his support behind him.
Married with children, Matey is expected to face the Assembly Members in the coming days for his confirmation.
If approved, he will take over the leadership of the municipal assembly, with a focus on development, local governance, and deepening community engagement.
His nomination marks a new chapter in local leadership for the municipality, with expectations high for continued collaboration between the assembly and its citizens.
