John Dramani Mahama has been sworn in again as Ghana’s 6th President of the 4th Republic.
Also, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang has been sworn in as Ghana’s Vice President.
Both were sworn in by the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkonoo on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the Black Star Square.
In history , John Dramani Mahama is the only person who has been sworn in thrice as Ghana’s President.
He is the first President to have gone into opposition and voted back into power in the history of Ghana.
John Dramani Mahama is also the First President to assume his office with a female Vice President.
Again, under the 4th republic, he is the first President to have received massive endorsement by the people of Ghana, securing 57.7% votes and having a great majority of 183 members of Parliament under the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.
For Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, she becomes Ghana’s first Female Vice President.
At the swearing in ceremony, about 20 heads of states, dignitaries from Ghana and the entire African continent, Ghanaians in general graced the occasion.
The event also saw a display of the rich and colourful Ghanaian culture, especially in the attires won by those who attended the event.
