Jomoro: MP delivers mechanized boreholes to 10 communities

For the first time in several years, residents of Fante New Town, Nyame Bekyere, New Ankasa, and Awia-Futu Junction, among others, in the Jomoro Constituency of the Western Region have access to potable water for drinking and other purposes.

Residents dislosed  that they have been fetching water from a dugout well at daybreak, which has occasionally resulted in injuries and other difficulties since they must travel to the dugout at dawn and night.

Pupils walk several kilometers to collect water from these dugouts before attending school, resulting in daily lateness.

This was discovered during the commissioning of one of the mechanized boreholes constructed by Dorcas Affo-Toffey, the Member of Parliament for Jomoro, in Fante New Town.

The Fante New Town is among the ten completed mechanized boreholes for Jomoro Constituency residents.

Job Pintil, the Odikro of Fante New Town, stated that if the MP had been unable to construct the borehole for them, she would have been unable to return to the area.

He was optimistic that the representative would do more for them so that they would vote for her in the upcoming election.

Odikro Job Pintil appeals to the MP to construct the only road in the region for them, as they are also inconvenienced by commuting on it.

Dorcas Affo-Toffeyexplained that she felt compelled to carry out the initiative after hearing from constituents during her campaign.

She stated that water is life, so she took it upon herself to expedite the completion of the project to save lives.

When asked about the cost of the project, the member of parliament stated that she would not disclose the cost of a single mechanized borehole or the entire ten in other communities, but that a substantial amount of money has been invested.

Madam Affo-Toffey called on the residents to make maintenance the hallmark on the borehole because it is the source of livelihood
