Jomoro: MP supports construction of classrooms at Compound Basic School

Kindergarten 1 and 2 pupils of Compound Basic School in the Jomoro Constituency of the Western Region have been attending classes without permanent classrooms for the past two years.

This was because the two school buildings containing these students collapsed during a heavy downpour.

Even before the eventual collapse of the two rooms, according to the school’s instructors, these structures were death traps for the students.

“It was also a death trap for the children because the rain had destroyed the structure. We realized it could cause disaster so we stopped the children”, Madam Adria Amani, a teacher explained to the media.

These came to light when the Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, presented some building materials for the reconstruction of the two classrooms.

The items were 20 tons of iron rods and 20 bags of cement.

She explained that the crowded classroom made it difficult for instructing and learning.

Madam Adria Amani explained that ever since the two buildings collapsed two years ago, “we converted one of the classrooms and combined the KG 1 and 2 pupils to use as classroom”.

Madam Amani stated that the MP’s donation was well-timed, as it will expedite the construction of the two classrooms so that the pupils have a more conducive learning environment.

The Odikro of Compound, Nana Ngwa, assured the member of parliament that he would ensure the building materials were used for their intended purpose.

The Odikro thanked the representative and urged her to advocate for the construction of the deplorable roadways in the region.

Nana Ngwa urged the NDC delegates to vote for her in the impending primaries to elect a parliamentary candidate for her to continue her good works in the area.

The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, also promised to come to their aid if the materials are not adequate.

She assured the people that she would deliver development to the people of Jomoro and its surrounding areas.
