Kasoa: Boy,12, allegedly commits suicide

A 12- year-old boy has allegedly committed suicide at Opeikuma, a suburb of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

The community and family members of the boy have been left in a state of shock over the issue since they are yet to find out what prompted the boy to kill himself.

According to reports, the deceased, Junior Setor suddenly went missing after returning from school on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, afternoon.

While he went missing, a search by his parents, relatives and other neighbours proved futile until he was found late in the night lying in an uncompleted building in their compound with a rope around his neck and a piece of the rope still hanging on part of the building.

Mother of the deceased, Joyce Setor who spoke to the media said she could not tell what might have prompted his son who never showed any sign of worry to commit such an act.

Some neighbours of the Settor family also spoke to the media expressing their disbelief and also called on the police to swiftly conduct a full scale investigations into the matter.

They described the 12 year-old-boy as a calm child and very respectful.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue pending autopsy by the police.

In other news: Immigration officer shot dead at Kokoligu

An Immigration Officer, AICO I Michael Otu has been shot dead by some unknown assailants at Kokoligu, a village between Nandom and Hamile.

According to the Police, on Tuesday, 22nd March, 2022, it received information that the Immigration Service Personnel had been shot and rushed to the crime scene and saw him dead and in a pool of blood.

The Police said preliminary investigation revealed that the officer had six gun shots from the rear by his attackers largely suspected to be smugglers.

It was further established that the fallen officer might have had a struggle with his assailants preceding his slain.

The Police also revealed that the Officer’s body was hidden under a bridge whilst his motorbike and helmet were found some 100 meters away from the remains.
