KNUST SHS: Father of student directed school authorities not to send boy to hospital-NAGRAT

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Rene Senyo Kwamikorkor, has alleged that Father of the Late KNUST SHS Student, Richard Sam directed the school authorities not to send his boy to the hospital till he got to the school.
According to Mr. Kwamikorkor, the Father of the boy told the authorities that he was coming to pick his son to a Medical Facility of his choice, and arrived later to pick the boy to the hospital.
The boy, Richard Sam, died hours after he was sent to a medical facility after complaining of stomach ache.
Speaking on Atinka TV’s Big Stories hosted by Abena Dufie Asare-Adjepong, Mr. Kwamikorkor noted that the Headmistress of the School, Felicia Asamoah Dankwa only acted per the directive of the Father, stating therefore that, NAGRAT believes the Headmistress should not be solely held responsible for the boy’s death.
“It is never true that the teachers left the boy to die. His Father was called and he came very late. When he even arrived he directed that they pack all his son’s items into their car before they move,” he said.
Secondly, Mr. Kwamikorkor  said the nearest medical facility was KNUST Hospital but the father insisted that he wanted his son to be treated at the Menhyia Hospital which was far from the school.
“We see no reason why everybody is blaming the Teachers. Many people lose their life at various Hospital and nobody is interdicted, is it because our leaders are not Teacher?” he fumed.
NAGRAT, he said is therefore opposing the Ghana Education Service’s Interdictory action against the Headmistress of school over the demise of the boy.
Mr. Kwamikorko Challenged the GES Leadership to fight for teachers and not be in the rush to punish teachers before investigations are concluded.
He noted that NAGRAT is earnestly waiting for the GES’s report to know the next line of action to take.
