Korle-Bu CEO hints of sports complex for facility

The Chief Executive for the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah, has revealed that plans are far advanced for the construction of a sports complex for the Teaching Hospital.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with host of Atinka FM’s “Legend Sports Show” Justice Adusi Poku, Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah said the hospital is developing a park in the hospital into a sports complex that will be to the benefit of the staff as well as people around Korle-Bu.

Asked if the Hospital had plans of forming a football club, Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah, revealed that although the formation of a football sports team is not part of their plans, they might consider a women’s team just for recreational purposes in the future.

Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah revealed that there is a park in Korlebu which will be developed into an ultra-modern sports complex to enhance sporting activities in the facility.

“At the moment, there are no plans to come up with a professional team but there is a big park in Korle-Bu and so we want to develop it into a big sports complex to have various facilities. This facility will serve recreational purposes for the staff as well as the residents in the Korle-Bu community.”

“But in the future if we get talented people and we feel the need to form a team, we will do that. We also have interest in women’s football, we have a women’s team but like I mentioned its all for fun not business,” Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah stated.
