The Kotoka International Airport, which is the main airport in Ghana’s capital, Accra, has been named the best airport in Africa by the Airport Council International (ACI).
The Airports Council International is an association of the world’s airports. It is a non profit organization, whose prime purpose is to advance the interests of airports and to promote professional excellence in airport management and operations.
In 2019, Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport was ranked the best in West Africa by the ACI; an improvement from the previous year where KIA was ranked sixth.
Currently, it has been awarded ‘Africa’s Best Airport’ by Region and size for airports with passenger population between two to five million.
Aside being named best airport in Africa, KIA’s terminal 3, basically known for providing international services has also been named the ‘Most Improved’ Airport.
Meanwhile, some individuals, including Chief Dele Momodu of Ovation Magazine have congratulated Ghana and Ex President John Mahama for the achievement.
