A former MP for the Ekumfi Constituency in the Central Region, George Kuntu Blankson, has urged NDC members to remain steadfast and united and refrain from being swayed by acts that will threaten the peace, love and tranquility in the NDC.
George Kuntu Blankson made the appeal when he donated some equipment to the Ekumfi Constituency office of the NDC to help the ongoing reorganization of the Party. The items which include a digital camera, printer ,films and batteries according to the former legislator, is to provide free passport pictures for the constituents who desire to pick NDC membership Cards.
“I thought of helping since the last time I visited and when I travelled outside the country , I was in touch with the Constituency Organiser , I promised that I would do something and today I came to fulfill that promise,’ he said .
He also pledged his commitment towards the building of a new Constituency office for the Party and also called for a unity walk among all party members in the constituency for a United front towards 2020.
Speaking at a Constituency Executive meeting of the party where he donated the items, the former legislator and District Chief Executive Officer for the area, reiterated his earlier call for unresolved grievances among members of the party to be worked on. According to him, it will reduce unnecessary battles and factions that could cause serious damage to the fortunes of the NDC ahead of the 2020 general elections.
“Some people within our rank and file are at loggerheads and don’t talk to each other from at the branch, constituency, regional and national levels. We should not continue to pretend that there are no problems in our party, there are and are several of them that contributed to our defeat, “he stated.
While admitting that in every grouping, there are bound to be agreements and disagreements, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airport Company Limited under whose watch the Kotoka International Airport received massive facelift ,is of the belief there is much to be done to solve some of the disunity and infighting within the NDC .
Pledging his commitment to ensure unity and peace in the Constituency , Kuntu Blankson promised not to throw his support behind any aspirant vying for positions in the upcoming constituency elections of the party but to support all executives elected by the delegates to ensure that the party recapture the Ekumfi Parliamentary seat .
Receiving the items, the Chairman for Ekumfi Constituency, Alhaji Joseph Antobam, popularly known as Alhaji O.B, was full of praise for the former MP for his support to the Ekumfi Constituency.
‘We are grateful for the support, you are always with us, even after losing the primaries, you continue to offer financial and moral support for the constituency”. He added.
