Little Dancer, Big Impact: Emefa Azaglo Stuns Tourists and Philanthropists at Keta

At just seven years old, Emefa Azaglo is already a cultural powerhouse.

The Primary 2 student of Start Right Academy in Aflao left an audience spellbound at a recent event organized by Reflo Company Ltd. at Keta Kedzi in the Volta Region of Ghana, where she performed a breathtaking Ewe traditional dance that had both locals and tourists mesmerized.

Her grace, energy, and mastery of movement seemed almost unreal for someone her age, earning her a standing ovation.

But beyond the applause, her story is one of raw talent, discovery, and cultural preservation.

The man who first saw the spark in Emefa is Lawal Abdul Quadri, her Teacher and the instructor of the Keta Kedzi Dance Ensemble.

Reflecting on the first time he saw her dance; he couldn’t hide his admiration.

“I spotted her during a school entertainment. She wasn’t even part of the performers, but the way she moved when the drummers played… it was as if the rhythm was calling her. I knew instantly that she had something special,” he recounted.

Quadri took Emefa under his wing, introducing her to the Keta Kedzi Dance Ensemble, where she quickly became a standout performer.

The group, which rehearses at the palace of Togbi Joachim Acolatse V, Dufia of Kedzi, has become a breeding ground for young cultural ambassadors, and Emefa is its newest shining star.

For Togbi Joachim Acolatse V, seeing young talents like Emefa flourish is the reason he supports the group.

“Culture is our identity, and when a child embodies it so effortlessly, it gives us hope. Emefa is proof that our traditions will live on through the next generation. I will do all I can to push them.” he said.

He commended Lawal Abdul Quadri for his dedication and encouraged more young people to embrace their heritage, noting that the palace would always be a home for those passionate about preserving the Ewe culture.

Among those deeply moved by Emefa’s performance was Rebecca Osam, CEO of Reflo Company, whose organization hosted the event as part of its “Thousand Girls Project.”

The initiative provides sanitary pads for 1,000 girls every year, aiming to boost their confidence and school attendance.

“Watching Emefa dance was magical. Her confidence, elegance, and energy were simply out of this world. It reminded me why we do what we do—not just to provide sanitary pads, but to empower young girls to shine in every way possible,” Osam said.

She added that Reflo was proud to support young girls like Emefa, ensuring they have both dignity and opportunities to pursue their passions.

With such a dazzling performance and the support of her mentors, Emefa Azaglo’s future looks bright.

For now, she continues to train, pouring her heart into every move.

And if her performance at the Reflo event is anything to go by, the world will be hearing her name for years to come.

One thing is certain—this little girl is dancing her way to greatness.
