Foh Amoaning, Law lecturer and convener of Anti Gay Rights Coalition , says its time a comprehensive legislation was passed to address Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex (LGBTQI) issues.
This comes after a female soldier of the Ghana Armed Forces, Staff Sergeant Vida Owusu, married her lesbian partner in a private ceremony in Accra.
Staff Sergeant Vida Owusu is currently undergoing interrogation by her superiors in the GAF.
A video which has gone viral shows Staff-Sgt Owusu, in a male costume, dancing with her alleged married partner as guests cheered on.
Prior to the event, the couple was clad in Military combat fatigue uniform, an act which has aroused the curiosity of the military superior.
Law lecturer and convener for Anti Gay rights, Lawyer Foh Amoaning, in an interview with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive, Ekourba Gyasi said a comprehensive legislation will clearly define what LGBTQI is, the nation’s stance and prohibitions.
“ The law is clear. The normal marriage in Ghana is between a man and a woman, there is nothing about a man and a man. Questioning whether or not there is a law that says marriage is between a man and a woman is not a very intelligent question. It is just like asking whether there is a law that strictly shows that people should walk with their legs.
Commenting on the activities of his Anti Gay rights coalition, Lawyer Foe Amoaning, said the coalition believes that the phenomenon is hormonal and has set up a holistic sexual therapy unit with psychologist, medical officers and counselors to assist persons in the LGBTQI community to redefine their sexual orientation.
