Mahama Forgives Sammy Gyamfi Over Dollar Gift to Agradaa

President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama, has pardoned the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, following public outrage over a viral video that showed him giving U.S. dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa.

The footage sparked criticism, with civil society groups and opposition members calling for Gyamfi’s dismissal.

They argued that the act may have breached Ghana’s foreign exchange laws and the code of conduct for public officials.

However, President Mahama has accepted Sammy Gyamfi’s public apology and decided not to pursue further disciplinary action.

He has, however, issued a strong warning to Gyamfi and all public appointees to uphold high ethical standards and protect public trust.

At a press briefing, Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the President regrets the incident but believes the apology is sufficient to close the matter.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ethical leadership and accountability.
