Mankessim murder: Another suspect arrested as 3 more bodies discovered

Another suspect has been arrested as a result of further police investigation into the Mankessim murder case.

The latest arrest brings the total number of suspects in the case to three.

The new suspect, known locally as Kobbie, is the husband of Akyere, Nana Clarke’s (main suspect) niece.

According to reports, Kobbie was hired to dig the grave for Georgina Asor Botchwey, an aspiring nurse trainee, at Nana Clarke’s Mankessim home.

Following intelligence gathered in connection with the murder and barbaric burial of the aforementioned deceased in  Mankessim, Kobbie was apprehended in Akwakrom, a community in the Ekumfi Distict of the Central Region.

Police, the Tufuhen of Ekumfi Akwakrom, the Pastor, and another suspect went to the scene, where they buried three people alive, including a teacher, and some items thought to be human bones were dug up from the grounds.

According to the  Police,  the latest suspect confessed that three people have been killed, with the recent nursing student killing bringing the total to four.

Meanwhile, the accused, Michael Ekow Clarke Quansah (Nana Clarke) and Pastor Michael Darko Amponsah (Sofo Kofi), who carried out the barbaric murder and subsequent burial of Georgina Botchway, were brought before the Cape Coast District Court 2 on September 22, 2022, presided over by Her Lorship Bernice Mensima Ackon.

The two were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder, in violation of Section 46 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1980, Act 29, where the prosecutor, DSP Daniel Gadzo, pleaded with the court to give them some time to complete their investigations, resulting in the case being adjourned to October 4, 2022.
