Minister Commissions Floating Bridge over Chemu Lagoon

The Minister of Communication and also Member of Parliament for Ablekuma west, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful, has commissioned a floating bridge over the Chemu lagoon, in her constituency.
The bridge, which rises whenever the tidal waves rises, has come as a relief to the entire communities of Chorkor and Shiabu.
Speaking to Atinka News at the commissioning, Mrs Ekuful intimated that it is the desire of the NPP government to bring relief and development to all sectors of the economy, therefore the need to take it upon herself to replace the hitherto wooden bridge, which used to wash away anytime the tides were high with the floating bridge.
According to the legislator, she contacted Mr Frimpong Boateng, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovations to discuss how best they could address the issue.
She continued that Professor sent in a team to do feasibility studies on the type of bridge that would suite the community demands, “that is why we are seeing this bridge today”, she said.
On his part, Mr Frimpong Boating, admonished the gathering to give their MP four more years in order for her to address their concerns.
He disclosed that the bridge which links Chorkor to Shiabu, used to be the old Winners road and that if they confide in the legislator, she could lobby for government to construct an asphalt road over the lagoon in future.
The Chief of Gbegbe, who graced the occasion urged the people to stop disposing refuse into the lagoon and also take proper care of the bridge.
